Rockville, Md., Dec. 9, 2022— On Monday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m., newly-elected Montgomery County Council President Evan Glass will hold a media availability to discuss the historic nature of the 20th Montgomery County Council which has grown from nine to 11 members. This expansion is the result of a Montgomery County Charter amendment, which was approved by the voters and first proposed by Glass, to provide greater representation for residents and more diversity on the Council.
Glass will also describe the new Council structure that includes the creation of two new committees—the Economic Development Committee and the Planning, Housing and Parks Committee.
Additionally, Glass will highlight his priorities for the coming year including addressing housing affordability, striving toward transit equity and achieving Vision Zero, addressing the climate crisis through meaningful environmental legislation and clean energy initiatives, and ensuring that Montgomery County is economically competitive.
The media availability will be conducted on Zoom and is for credentialed members of the media.
