The EV Purchasing Co-op and our community partners have arranged two great opportunities to experience EVs in person as part of Earth Day celebrations this weekend.
On Saturday, April 23, come to Montgomery County GreenFest and check out a new electric pickup truck from Rivian. Reduce your emissions by catching a free shuttle from the Glenmont Metro Station to Brookside Gardens.
Then, Join us Sunday, April 24 at the 31st Annual Rockville Science Day! Fitzgerald Auto Mall is hosting an EV Ride-and-Drive opportunity to give attendees a chance to experience the future of fun, quiet, emissions-free transportation. Both events are free and great for families, come on down and get charged up!
Every day, more Montgomery County residents pledge to make their next vehicle an EV. We are currently up to 847 pledges - 85% of the way to our pledge goal! Every new pledge shows local dealers and auto manufacturers that Montgomery County is hungry for EVs. You can help grow the EV Purchasing Co-op by sharing the website with your friends and neighbors and encouraging them to take the pledge.
I've Made the Pledge, Now What?
Soon, dealer partners will start reaching out to residents that asked to be contacted about certain brands. We now have 25 dealerships representing 14 automotive brands in the dealership network. However, dealers have told us that the limited supply of EVs makes it hard for them to offer discounts right now. After the pilot phase, the County will keep working with dealers and community partners to negotiate group discounts, organize Ride-and-Drives, and offer other benefits for the Co-op.

In March 2022, EVADC highlighted public charging resources around the County that can support drivers’ transition to electric vehicles. The latest video features how to find free EV charging at grocery stores and other retail locations, courtesy of Volta. You can find previous videos in this series on EVADC’s Youtube channel.
