Montgomery County Department of Transportation Ends Free, Direct Vaccination Ride On Shuttle Service to Montgomery College Germantown Campus, as the Mass Vaccination Site closes on July 2, 2021.
The Montgomery County Department of transportation (MCDOT) Ride On Germantown Vaccination Shuttle will end operations on July 2, 2021. The shuttle service has been operating since March 31, 2021, providing free and direct Ride On bus service every 30 minutes, between the Montgomery College Germantown Campus mass vaccination site and the Shady Grove Metro Station.
County Executive Marc Elrich announced that the COVID-19 mass vaccination site at Montgomery College Germantown Campus will close on Friday, July 2. The County will open an alternate vaccination site at the Upcounty Regional Services Center, on July 6.
“The safety and wellbeing of our residents is a priority for MCDOT,” said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin. “We are glad to have been able to help with the County’s vaccination effort. Providing free, direct transportation to the Germantown vaccination site helped hundreds of residents attain access to vaccinations that they may not have otherwise had access to.”
As a reminder, all Ride On, Ride On extRa, and Flash bus services are operating and remain free to all passengers. The Ride On Flex on-demand service resumes operation on July 19th.
Residents traveling to Montgomery College Germantown Campus can still use the Ride On route 55. Residents traveling to the Upcounty Regional Services Center can use Ride On routes 61 and 97.
Federal guidelines continue to require face coverings when traveling by public transportation at least through Sept. 13. Social distancing continues to be strongly recommended onboard the buses.
Bus interiors are cleaned by the County’s Department of General Services twice daily with hospital-grade disinfectant. Bus filter and ventilation systems also are treated each night with a disinfectant.
