Friends,
Some big news is that we anticipate youth ages 12 to 15 will be eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine in our County later this week. This is great news as we need everyone to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, especially our youth. Visit the Covid-19 Vaccine Portal for the latest information!
We can now report that 56.2% of Montgomery County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. You can now schedule your own 1st dose appointments at several County clinics and the Germantown mass vaccination site. No preregistration needed! Many of the other State-run clinics are accepting walk-ups without appointments. Check the State website for details.
Thank you to everyone that has received a vaccine. We are making progress!!
TIPS FOR AFTER YOUR COVID-19 VACCINATION
You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last required dose of vaccine. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two doses. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires one dose.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), fully-vaccinated people can safely resume some activities with other fully-vaccinated people when they reach peak immunity (two weeks after receiving the required dosage for all three vaccines). The current guidelines say that fully-vaccinated people can:
- Visit other fully-vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart.
- Visit with unvaccinated people from one other household indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart, if everyone in the other households is at low risk for severe disease.
- Refrain from quarantine and testing if they do not have symptoms of COVID-19 after contact with someone who has COVID-19.
Fully-vaccinated people should continue to take COVID-19 precautions when
- in public,
- when visiting with unvaccinated people from multiple other households,
- when around unvaccinated people who are at high risk of getting severely ill from COVID-19.
