NEWS ALERT: JOHNSON & JOHNSON VACCINE

LL

Following recommendations from the CDC and the FDA, Montgomery County health officials announced today that they will pause the use of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine. See Press Release.

MASS VACCINATION SITE AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE - GERMANTOWN CAMPUS

The Montgomery College - Germantown Campus mass vaccination site transitioned to a State-supported site on Thursday, April 8, 2021. The site is now able to make about two times more appointments than before! If you already preregistered with the County, no further action is needed.

This site is vaccinating all Marylanders age 16 and older. About 25% of the appointments are reserved for Montgomery County residents. The site is scheduling 16 and 17 year-olds on days that they have the Pfizer vaccine available. This is currently the only vaccine authorized for this age group.

Ride On Vaccination Shuttle - there is a free service between the Shady Grove Metro Station and Montgomery College - Germantown Campus.

HOW THE CDC IS MAKING COVID-19 VACCINE RECOMMENDATIONS

When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorizes or approves a COVID-19 vaccine, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) will quickly hold a public meeting to review all available data about that vaccine (sign up to receive email updates whenever ACIP’s Meeting Information is updated). Before making recommendations, ACIP reviews all available clinical trial information, including descriptions of:

  • Who is receiving each vaccine (age, race, ethnicity, underlying medical conditions)
  • How different groups respond to the vaccine
  • Side effects of each vaccine

From these data, ACIP will then vote on whether to recommend the vaccine. ACIP also votes on recommendations for who should be offered COVID-19 vaccine first when supplies are limited.
