Dear Friend,
Today’s the official launch of Montgomery County’s State mass vaccination site at the Montgomery College Germantown campus.
I joined Governor Larry Hogan, County Executive Marc Elrich, Congressman David Trone, my colleagues on the Council, and representatives from the State, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Holy Cross Health and Montgomery College today to tour the impressive site.
For months, the Council has been calling for a mass vaccination site in Maryland’s most populous and diverse County. Our calls have been echoed by our State and Federal delegation, and by residents like you.
I’m pleased that the governor finally heard our calls and I'm appreciative of the continued partnership and collaboration in standing up a mass vaccination site in Montgomery County.
This is a great day for the whole state of Maryland for at least two reasons.
- Putting a mass vaccination site in the largest county, near the greatest number of eligible residents, is the fastest way to increase our statewide vaccination totals, and;
- It’s the fastest way to get the economic engine of the State back up and running to power a robust statewide recovery.
Montgomery County is one of the leading biohealth hubs in the nation. We’re the home to NIH, the FDA, Novavax and Dr. Fauci. Our products and talents are helping the whole world recover from COVID-19. And our residents cannot be left behind. So it’s beyond appropriate that we have our own mass vaccination site.
Getting shots into arms equitably and efficiently is key to ending this pandemic. That’s why I’m beyond grateful for all the work that’s been done behind the scenes to make this site possible, and all the work that continues as we scale up to be able to vaccinate 3,000 people each day.
We knew that having a mass vaccination site at the Montgomery College Germantown Campus would allow us to reach into the surrounding communities that have been hardest hit, while also being accessible by public transit. We are offering free Ride On Shuttle Service to the mass vaccination site, and continue to operate additional County-run clinics and mobile vaccinations for those who need it.

Thanks again to everyone that has helped make this a reality.
