Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Statistics

As of Tuesday, April 6, 378,051 Montgomery County residents (36%) received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 212,830 residents (20.3%) are fully vaccinated.

While vaccination rates are going up, confirmed COVID-19 cases, COVID-19 testing positivity rates, and COVID-19 hospital bed use rates are beginning to rise as well. See the Montgomery County COVID-19 Data Dashboard for details.

Preregistration Open to All

Beginning Monday, April 12, all Marylanders 16 and older will be eligible for a vaccine, no matter what provider is giving the vaccination.  Residents can preregister for an appointment at a mass vaccination site by visiting https://onestop.md.gov/preregistration or calling 1-855-MD-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829). During preregistration, you can choose your top two preferred sites.

All Montgomery County residents can now preregister for an appointment at a County vaccine clinic by visiting govaxmoco.com.

Preregistration does not guarantee an appointment. Residents currently eligible under Phase 1 and Phase 2, who have not yet been vaccinated, will continue to be prioritized.

Mass Vaccination Site at Montgomery College Germantown

The vaccination site at Montgomery College’s Germantown campus will transition to a State-supported mass vaccination site on Thursday, April 8. Vaccinations at MC Germantown will be available to all Marylanders, but about 25% of the appointments will be reserved for Montgomery County residents. If you have already preregistered with the County, no further action is needed.

Free Ride-On shuttle service will run from the Shady Grove Metro station to the vaccination site at Montgomery College-Germantown, with drop off at the vaccination site.  Buses will run every 15 minutes from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Pick up the shuttle on the east side of the Shady Grove Metro.  Buses will be marked “Vaccination Shuttle.”

If you are driving to the Germantown vaccination site, take Exit 15 (Rt. 118) from I-270 and follow signs to Montgomery College. Free parking is available

Help Reduce Lines at Vaccination Clinics

To avoid lines and maintain safe distancing, please plan to arrive at a vaccination site no more than 10 minutes before your appointment time.  If you do arrive earlier, please remain in your car until 10 minutes before your appointment. 

Updates about Eligibility to Preregister

As of Tuesday, March 30, residents age 16 years and older with underlying medical conditions are eligible to preregister for State vaccination sites.  Eligibility does not confirm an immediate appointment.  Appointments are made based on available vaccine supply.

You may preregister for State mass vaccination clinics online or call 1-855-MDGOVAX (1-855-634-6829).

The Montgomery County health department is continuing to vaccinate all essential employees and residents age 65 and older.   These efforts continue to target getting doses to residents in zip codes that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 deaths (and cases) and to those who have difficulty accessing vaccinations.

We encourage residents to preregister with the State and with the County, and to take the first vaccination appointment you are offered at any clinic.

Already Been Vaccinated?  You Can Now Cancel Your Preregistration and Help Us Help Others

As vaccine becomes more widely available, more residents are receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations at sites outside of County-operated clinics. To help us serve unvaccinated residents more efficiently, we need your help.

If you have preregistered but have already been vaccinated, you can cancel your preregistration at a County-run clinic. This will ensure that you no longer receive vaccine appointment notifications.

Keep Getting Tested for COVID-19

Montgomery County health officials recommend testing at least once each month if you are frequently out in the community. You may test more often if you were not able to follow safety steps like distancing from others and wearing a mask. 

While many people with COVID-19 have mild or no symptoms, it is still possible to be infected and pass the disease to friends, family and loved ones. You may have been in close contact with someone with asymptomatic COVID-19 without knowing it. We continue to provide free testing at numerous locations for anyone who wants one.  Find a complete schedule of upcoming clinics at www.MoCoCOVIDTesting.org.

When more people get tested, we can discover disease “hot spots” and any COVID-19 variants that may arise.
