Montgomery County Public Libraries Offers Free Animation Workshops for Ages 10+ and 50+ at the new Wheaton Library
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will offer free animation workshops for ages 10+ and those 50+ in December. The workshops will take place at Wheaton Library located at 11701 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring.
The one-hour workshops will explore the history, science and creative possibilities of animation as participants create three optical toys: a thaumatrope, a cyclical animated zoetrope strip and a flip book. The workshops will be facilitated by cartoonist, illustrator and animator, Leila Cabib,
“We are delighted to host these animation workshops at the Wheaton Library” said MCPL Director Anita Vassallo. “The workshops are a lot of fun and provide learning opportunities for participants. The library is the perfect space for this type of informal learning for residents of different ages and backgrounds.”
The free workshops, funded in part by a Wheaton Cultural Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, are offered at the following times:
