Winter Emergency Shelter Season Begins
November 1; Changes Announced Due to Continued Closure of Gude Drive Men’s Emergency Shelter

Due to the continued closure of the Men’s Shelter at 600 East Gude Drive in Rockville, there are changes to where shelter will be provided during the winter shelter season.  Beginning November 1, men seeking emergency shelter should call the Homeless Information Line at 240-907-2688 to find out where to go to access available shelter space. The information line is staffed 24/7.

During the hypothermia season, which runs from November 1 to March 31, Montgomery County Government offers emergency shelter to men and women.  Winter emergency shelter beds for women are located at Rainbow Place, located at 215 West Montgomery Avenue in Rockville, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

County staff from multiple agencies, along with the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless continue to work to open additional temporary space for use as a winter emergency shelter.  Until that work is completed, the Homeless Information Line will be the point of contact to determine where emergency shelter beds for men are available.
