Discover New Places, People and Activities During Montgomery County’s Active Aging Week, October 1 – 7
Montgomery County government invites residents to participate in the second annual Active Aging Week, which is part of a national initiative to promote healthy lifestyles. This year’s theme is “Redefining Active.” Activities include walks, fitness classes, book discussions, language conversation, games, technology classes, volunteer information and meditation.
“Active aging is about being engaged physically, but also socially, intellectually and spiritually,” said Robin Riley, Montgomery County Recreation Director and co-chair of the Age-Friendly Montgomery initiative. “Trying new things and engaging in community activities can keep us healthy and happy throughout our lives. Montgomery County strives to be a fun community that makes staying active easy.”
The Active Aging Week kickoff event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The free event includes a stroll around Brookside Gardens and multiple activity demonstrations, such as Zumba and Tai Chi. Food will be available for purchase.
