Dear Friends:

Since I took office December 3, I have met and talked with many of you all around the County. My staff and I have been busy working on a wide variety of issues, including the operating and capital budgets, economic development, community outreach, and much more. I have hired some great directors of our departments and am in the process of hiring more. And, I’m enjoying getting a chance to meet some of the thousands of employees who work for our county government. I’m looking forward to working with them and all of you to make Montgomery County ever better.

I will reach out occasionally to share with you some of the activities I have been involved in and sometimes I’ll also share my perspective on one or more issues. This time, I’ve included a few photos, including one with former County Executive Sid Kramer, at the Olney and Laytonsville parades, the 4Business kickoff, and the Community Conversation on Equity.

Today, I wanted to share a long piece about a zoning text amendment that is currently before the County Council.  I hope you have time to read it and respond.

Finally, next week I’ll be hosting a community forum on policing in advance of our selecting a new police chief; it will be Thursday, June 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kennedy High School – please join us.

I look forward to being in touch.

Sincerely,

Marc Elrich
