Join Us for Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice on March 13 at the Silver Spring Civic Building

Hello,

You are invited to attend the kick off for a Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice hosted by Council President Nancy Navarro and County Executive Marc Elrich on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Silver Spring Civic Building (1 Veterans Plaza). Residents are asked to share their thoughts on how we can build a better and stronger Montgomery County that meets the needs of all residents through a Racial Equity and Social Justice Policy for Montgomery County Government. Council President Navarro and County Executive Elrich will be joined by Councilmembers, top County leaders and community partners who want to hear from you.

Decisions are being made by local government without a full picture of how these decisions impact unrepresented communities experiencing inequities across the county. These decisions impact education, housing, health care, transportation and more. A racial equity and social justice policy is needed so that county government decisions can be made through a racial equity lens.

All residents are encouraged to attend the Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice to discuss the following:

  1. Why does social equity matter?
  2. Are you impacted by racial inequity?
  3. What changes do you want to see promote racial and social justice?

Please join us. Feel free to share this email and the attached flyers with your community, friends and family and on social media. If you plan to attend, please RSVP on our Facebook events page here. We look forward to seeing you.
