PEDESTRIANS, AND CYCLISTS ARE URGED TO TAKE EXTRA TIME TO GET AROUND WORK ZONES
Montgomery
County is a thriving area that has many active construction projects to improve
roadways, expand mass transit, improve infrastructure, and with new
development. DPS is reminding people to
use extreme caution as they walk, bike, or travel near any construction work
zones. In the event a sidewalk has been
temporarily closed for construction activities, an alternate route has been
signed to safely convey pedestrians around the work area. Although it may not be the most direct
route, it is the safest route. DPS
representatives have observed many instances where pedestrians walk in the
roadway to get around a sidewalk closure, ignoring signage, and jeopardizing their
safety. Remember to take the extra steps to make it through a construction work zone
safely.
STAY SAFE AND WALK ONLY ON
DESIGNATED CROSSWALKS, SIDEWALKS, AND PATHS. WALKING IN THE ROADWAY OR INTO A CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE PUTS EVERYONE AT RISK.
