Ride On Service Changes to Start Sunday, May 14
Montgomery County Maryland sent this bulletin at 05/05/2017 02:11 PM EDT
Ride On will implement service improvements on select routes and launch a brand new route on Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Affected routes include: 5, 15, 20, 31, 33, 43, 48, 55, 56, 58, 60, 61, 63, 66, 67, 71, 73, 74, 75, 78, 79, 90, 100.
New schedules for these routes have also been posted to Ride On's homepage so please take a minute to review them ahead of the start date.
Here is a summary of the changes:
- Route 31 - Ride On will serve the new neighborhood of Poplar Run by going along Layhill Road, Poplar Run Drive, Tivoli Lake Blvd, and then to Randolph Road. Ride On Route 10 will continue to serve stops on Randolph Road.
- Route 33 - The route has been changed to serve the very populated Connecticut Avenue Estates community. The route will now serve Valleywood Drive, Clay Street, Bluhill Road, Goodhill Road, Dalewood Drive, Hathaway Drive and Weller Road via Claridge and Medway streets. Metrobus Y2, Y7 and Y8 serve Georgia Avenue.
- Route 73 - This new route is express service from the Cabin Branch Community in Clarksburg to Shady Grove Metro Station via W. Old Baltimore Road. This routing will also serve the Gateway Center Business Park.
- Route 75 - The route will be changed to serve Snowden Farm Parkway to Little Seneca Parkway. This will eliminate the duplication of services in northern Clarksburg and better connect the most developed area of Clarksburg to Germantown and the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, in addition to providing service during the middle of the day. Two weekday morning trips and two weekday afternoon trips will serve Clarksburg High School.
- Route 79 - The route has been revised to better serve the densest areas of Clarksburg. It continues to serve a portion of Skylark Road (Arora Hills) and then shifts to Snowden Farm Parkway and New Cut Road. This will also provide better access to the large retail development at Clarksburg Village Center at New Cut Road and Snowden Farm Parkway.
- Several routes will see simple running time changes so that the schedule reflects the actual travel time along the route. Routes with running time changes include: 5 (on Saturday and Sunday only), 20, 43, 48, 56, 58, 60, 63, 66, 67, 71, 74, 78, 90.
- Routes 55, 61, 100 - The early morning schedules on these routes have been changed so riders can take the first Metrorail train.
