BUILDING SAFETY
MONTH . . . Creating building projects of all types with safety in mind—and
making them more accessible for the disabled—were the themes as Montgomery County Council recognized the month of May as “Building
Safety Month.” Representatives of the County’s Department of Permitting
Services and the Commission on People with Disabilities joined the ceremonies
led by Council President Nancy Floreen and Councilmember George Leventhal.
DPS Zoning Spring Sign Sweep
In response to a request from the Takoma/Langley Crossroads community, DPS Zoning mobilized and conducted outreach to businesses and a sweep of mounting illegal signs from both predatory advertisers with in the public right-of-way as well as from brick and mortar businesses.
DPS Zoning Team contacted 75 businesses and cleared over 200 utility poles and traffic control devices. Over 400 illegal signs were removed during the DPS 2016 Spring Sign Sweep.
The feedback from community was very appreciative and positive.
