Maryland's Census Team Reaching Out to Local Complete Count Committees Virtually

Planning's Census Director Lorena Rivera, Director of Public Affairs Kristin Fleckenstein, and Census Outreach Coordinator John Watson held  regional virtual “check-ins” with the local complete count committees in the Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, and Western Maryland regions. Meetings with local committees in northern Maryland and the Baltimore/Washington metro area are scheduled for next week. These regional meetings engage the local committees to find out how their outreach efforts are working and to share best practices.

Local complete count committees have been formed in all 24 Maryland jurisdictions. The U.S. Census Bureau defines these committees as "volunteer committees established by tribal, state, and local governments and community leaders or organizations to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the 2020 Census."

American FactFinder Officially Retired: Data.Census.gov Now Primary Data Tool

The U.S. Census Bureau retired American FactFinder (AFF), the primary dissemination tool on census.gov for the past 20 years. Beginning in June of 2019, the Census Bureau stopped releasing new data in AFF, and transitioned to data.census.gov for data releases formerly on AFF. Data.census.gov represents a new chapter in the Census Bureau’s dissemination approach by centralizing data access and allowing for a more rapid response to customers.
