Paving the way…
The very first Executive Order Gov. Moore signed in 2024 was to initiate Longevity Ready Maryland (LRM). This month, the Department of Aging launches the LRM brand and shares its plan to transform current models of governance that are better equipped to serve all Marylanders as we age.
Key features of the initiative include a digital platform that will provide access to data and information critical to serving the aging population, and Advisory Groups that will coordinate research, equity, and stakeholder leadership to better prepare for the future of aging in Maryland. These Advisory Groups play an important role in helping to shape policy, planning, and legislative recommendations.
At its core, LRM has four Epic Goals:
Build a longevity ecosystem that connects key stakeholders and systems to enhance the quality of life for older Marylanders. |
Promote economic opportunity for an age-inclusive workforce through multigenerational employment and consumer participation. |
Prepare Marylanders to afford longevity through improved access to affordable housing, healthcare, and retirement planning. |
Optimize health, wellness, and mobility through investments in nutrition, health literacy, outdoor spaces, public health, and transportation infrastructures. |
To reach these goals, the Department of Aging is currently collaborating with a range of state agencies and other stakeholders. Stay tuned for work-to-date reporting on LRM in Action, and examples of how others are demonstrating creative ways to make an impact as an Epic Innovator.
