With every new season comes new risks. Spring in Maryland brings warmer temperatures, increased travel, and a high chance of severe weather. Before the next storm rolls in, take time to review your insurance coverage and make simple preparations to help prepare you for the unexpected.
- Keep your home inventory up-to-date.
- Don’t wait! Most flood insurance policies have a 30-day waiting period.
- Read your policy and review your coverage limits to determine what is covered and what is excluded.
- Consider making improvements or repairs to your property that may prevent loss or damage. See if your renovations affect your policy.
- Now's a good time to check your car for needed maintenance, such as tire tread. Review your auto policy limits and deductibles.
There's been a natural disaster (examples: storm, hurricane, tornado, hail, flood) and you have damage to your home or vehicle - now what? The Maryland Insurance Administration can assist you by providing contact information for your insurer or by helping you with questions about how to file a claim.
