If you are renting, you might think, “Why do I need insurance?” – since the landlord is responsible for problems with the building. But personal belongings damaged or stolen from the home will not be covered by a landlord or property management company’s insurance policy – leaving you with the loss should anything happen to your possessions. Consider buying renters insurance if you are renting. Most renters insurance costs between $25-$30 a month. We have compiled resources to further assist you.
While the Maryland Insurance Administration does not sell insurance and we cannot recommend a particular policy or insurance company, we do want to help you learn what types of coverage are available. Additionally, we are here to assist you if you have a complaint involving an insurer, an insurance producer, public adjuster or adviser.
