As temperatures rise, certain risks increase making it crucial to review your insurance coverage and take proactive steps to protect yourself. Here are some key considerations for insurance this summer, plus safety tips:
-
Travel Insurance: Covers trip cancellations, interruptions, medical emergencies, and lost or delayed luggage.
-
Summer Storm Damage: Secure outdoor furniture, trim trees and branches, and consider storm shutters for windows. Consider flood insurance.
-
Increased Home Burglaries: Homeowners or renters insurance can cover losses from theft. Make sure your policy includes adequate coverage for valuables and personal property.
-
Water Recreation Accidents: Consider boat insurance. Boat insurance can cover damages and liability for accidents involving watercraft. Health insurance may cover medical expenses for injuries.
-
Grill Fires: Always grill outdoors and away from structures. Keep the grill clean by removing grease buildup, and never leave it unattended while in use. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
Taking these precautions and having the right insurance coverage can help you enjoy a worry-free summer. Safe travels and stay safe!
While the Maryland Insurance Administration does not sell insurance and we cannot recommend a particular policy or insurance company, we do want to help you learn what types of coverage are available. Additionally, we are here to assist you if you have a complaint involving an insurer, an insurance producer, public adjuster or adviser.
