2018-2019 Educational Assistance Grant Awards have been made!

Dear Student,

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) is pleased to announce that initial awarding for the EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE (EA) GRANT program for the 2018-2019 award year has been COMPLETED.

To determine if you have been awarded an EA Grant you must log into your MDCAPS account by visiting http://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us. If you find that you have been awarded the EA grant, you will need to ACCEPT your award immediately.

If you do not accept your award using the below steps, it will be CANCELLED. 

 

STEPS TO ACCEPT YOUR AWARD:

1.  Create a MDCAPS account (if you are a new user) and login

 

2.  Click the Enrollment link and indicate the institution that you will be attending for the 2018-2019 academic year. 

      **This is only required if your institution is not showing already or if you have more than one institution listed.  Only ONE institution  may be listed when accepting the award

 

3.  Return to your MDCAPS homepage and select the Award link. Under the “Accept or Decline your Award” box select "Accept" next to the award and click Submit.   

You'll know that your award has been accepted when you see the icon change to a PINK KEY MHEC KEY.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT YOUR AWARD ON YOUR CELL PHONE.  IT MUST BE DONE THROUGH A PC OR LAPTOP!

 In case you’re wondering, yes this is a legitimate award. Additional scholarship and grant information can be viewed on the MHEC website by visiting www.mhec.maryland.gov  

 

Also, if you are a student that has received an Educational Assistance Grant for at least two academic years beginning on or after the 2015-2016 academic year, you must successfully complete a certain number of credits in order to be considered for a renewal award in the 2018-2019 academic year.  For more information please visit:  http://mhec.maryland.gov/preparing/Pages/FinancialAid/EEAProgramChanges.aspx.
