Reminder State Awards have been made for the 2016-2017 award year

Dear Student,

 

This is a REMINDER that The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) has completed initial awarding for the Educational Assistance (EA) Grant program for the 2016-2017 and time is running out to accept the award.

If you have not logged into your MDCAPS account to determine IF you have been awarded an EA Grant please do so now to avoid cancellation of the award . To determine if you have been awarded you must log into your MDCAPs account by visiting https://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us If you find that you have been awarded the EA grant, you will need to ACCEPT your award immediately. If you do not accept your award using the below steps, it will be CANCELLED. 

 

  

How do I Accept the award? 

  1. Visit https://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us.  Remember…this must be done on your PC or laptop.  You CANNOTMHEC phone accept your award using your mobile device. 

 

  1. If you have not already done so, create your on-line MDCAPs account with a username and password (there are specific instructions to assist you with your password.) If you already have an MDCAPs account, simply log in.

 

  1. After creating your user name & password, you will receive an email which contains the ACTIVATION link needed to complete your set-up. Log into your email and click the activation link as shown. 

 

  1. Once you have completed your account activation, log into your MDCAPs account, click the "ENROLLMENT" link, and review your list of schools for each term.

 

IF you have more than one school listed, you will need to DELETE the schools you will NOT be attending.

 

Then, return to the homepage and click the "AWARDS" link to ACCEPT orDECLINE. Then click SUBMIT. 

When the icon changes from a GOLD RIBBON MHEC Ribbon to a PINK KEY   MHEC KEY  , you will know the acceptance has gone through.
