DECEMBER 30, 2020

Center City

3:00 A.M.

161 Centerway. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the garage area of the Greenbelt Sunoco by breaking out a window. Nothing appeared to have been taken.


Franklin Park/Beltway Plaza/Greenbelt Station/Capitol Office Park/Metro

3:26 P.M.

6000 block Greenbelt Road. Assault arrest. Tia Lauren Tynes Higgins, 33, of Riverdale, MD was arrested and charged with two Counts of Assault on a Police Officer, Second Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct by officers responding to a report of a disorderly subject leaving the Burlington Coat Factory. A citizen advised that the same subject had assaulted her in the parking lot. As the officer attempted to detain the suspect the suspect assaulted the officer, punching her several times. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner. The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

6:16 P.M.

9100 block Springhill Lane. Robbery/shooting. Officers responded to a report of a possible shooting and discovered the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim advised that he was walking to a residence when a vehicle pulled up near him and two subjects got out, armed with handguns. The suspects then shot the victim and took a carry bag the victim had which contained cash. The suspect then fled the area in the vehicle, described as a blue in color, no further. The suspects are described as two black males, no further. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

6:02 P.M.

6000 Greenbelt Road. Attempt carjacking arrest. Aaron Vermont Hill, 44, of Norristown, PA was arrested and charged with Attempt Carjacking by officers responding to a report of a possible assault. The victim advised that he was placing items in his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by the suspect, who pointed an unknown object at the victim and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The victim yelled for help, at which time a citizen and an off-duty police officer detained the suspect until police arrived. The suspect was transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

3:03 P.M.

6000 block Greenbelt Road. Theft. The victim advised that he agreed to sell a video game player to the suspect over social media and arranged to meet to complete the transaction. After meeting the suspect the victim agreed to let the suspect purchase the item by way of a phone app. After giving the item to the suspect he later realized that the suspect never made the payment. The suspect is described as a black female, no further.


East/Greenway Shopping Center

9:17 A.M.

6925 Hanover Parkway. Vandalism. Unknown person(s) used spray paint to vandalize two doors at the community building at Schrom Hills Park.


Citywide Automotive Crime

428 Ridge Road. Theft from auto. The victim advised that she was loading gift bags into her vehicle when she observed the suspect running from her vehicle carrying one of the gift bags. The suspect is described as an Asian male wearing all black, no further.

6208 Breezewood Court. Stolen vehicle. A black 2010 Cadillac Escalade, Maryland tags 1BD9562.

151 Westway. Theft auto. Two tags, Maryland 8DY8186, were taken from a vehicle.

6000 block Greenbelt Road. Vandalism to auto. Unknown person(s) broke out the front passenger window of a vehicle and scratched the paint.

7811 Mandan Road. Unauthorized use arrest. A 15 year old Greenbelt youth was arrested for Unauthorized Use after he allegedly took his parent’s 2011 Chrysler 300. The vehicle was recovered the same day when the suspect returned it. The youth was released to a parent pending action by the Juvenile Justice System.

6220 Breezewood Drive. Theft from auto. A rear tag, Maryland 9DR9473, was taken from a vehicle.

8000 Greenbelt Station Parkway. Theft from auto. Unknown person(s) broke out the driver’s window and removed the vehicle’s airbags.
