Happy 4th of July!
GAFC Holiday Hours of
Operations:
8am - 8pm INDOOR POOL
10am - 8pm OUTDOOR POOL
(Indoor
pool, outdoor pool and Hot Tub will close at 7:45pm)
On weekends and holidays, admittance to the Greenbelt Aquatic & Fitness
Center is restricted to passholders, Greenbelt residents and their paying
guests (limit of 3 guests per member). Greenbelt residents are required to show
proof of residency when paying daily admission.

Youth Swim Lessons Weekday II Session July 10-13, July 17-20
Greenbelt
residents register on Monday and Tuesday, July 2-3. Open registration on
Wednesday, July 5.
Online registration is NOT permitted
for Children’s Swim Lessons. Greenbelt Recreation Department’s policy is to
provide equal opportunity to all registrants, registration forms are accepted
beginning on the registration dates. Early in-person, email, fax or mail-in
registrations will not be accepted. And due to the high demand and very limited
availability, in-person registration is highly recommended to ensure
appropriate placement for all registrants.
Registration forms received by mail, email, snoaman@greenbeltmd.gov, or
fax: 301.345.0147 will be accepted after 12:00am on the registration dates and
will be processed in order in which they were received between 8:00am and
4:30pm. Please note that the priority will be given to the in-person
registration, on a first come first enrolled basis.

Family Fun Night on Friday, July 20th 8:00pm-9:45pm
Admittance to the pool will be $5.00 for all families, including
passholders. Bring your pool toys and the whole family for an evening of fun!
Family Swim Night is designed to give families an opportunity to spend an
evening together in a recreational atmosphere. Entering families must have at
least one adult. Families will be charged $1.00 for each additional non-family
member, with a limit of three non-family members per group. In the case of
inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Indoor Pool.

First Aid/CPR/AED Class
Friday, 7/13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Classes will be led by an American Red Cross certified instructor.
Participants must attend and participate in all course sessions, demonstrate
competency in all required skills, and pass each section of the written exam
with a score of 80 percent or better in order to receive certification. Due
to the online portion of this class, registration closes one week prior to
start date. Class prices include the $27 certification fee charge for the American
Red Cross online portion of the class. You may register for the

Once completed, you will be issued a certificate which you will need to
bring to class. Participants MUST complete the online session of the training
two days prior to the classroom skills
session.

- Mini
Lockers: We highly encourage all members and guests to lock their valuables in
the free mini lockers located in the lobby at the front desk. We also encourage
the use of locks on the lockers in the locker rooms.
- Hot
Tub will be closed for bi-weekly cleaning on July 11th and 25th, from 12:00pm
to 8:00pm for Bi-weekly cleaning. Patrons must be 18 years of age to use the
Hot Tub.

SUMMERTIME
at the GAFC has begun. Please note: Youth Lessons Tu-Th, 8:15a – Noon. Limited
Lap Lanes available 9:00a - Noon
Outdoor Pool opens at 11:00am. Camps in the outdoor pool, Tu-Th, 1:30p -3:00p.
Limited lap lanes available at this time. Please Plan your visit accordingly.
- Half-Summer
Memberships will be available for sale starting on Monday, June 25th.
Memberships are valid from July 1 through September 3, 2018.
- GMST Home Swim Meets are scheduled on Saturday
mornings, June 30th & July 7th. The
outdoor pool will open at 1:00pm on those days. Last morning practice for
most swimmers is scheduled on Friday, July 13th. Last morning
practice for all swimmers is scheduled on Friday, July 27th

Senior
Swim Class FREE to pass holders; resident, non-pass holders pay $1.50 each
visit; non-resident, non-pass holders pay $2 each visit. Mondays
11:15am-12:00pm. 11mtgs: 6/18-8/27
- All
members are required to scan their pass to gain entry into the Aquatic and
Fitness Center.
- Swimming
must cease and pools must be vacated 15 minutes before the scheduled end of day
for maintenance and closing procedures.
- Aquatic
classes take precedence over recreational swimming. Patrons may use whatever
sections of the pool are not being utilized by classes. A minimum of 3 lap
lanes are available at all times, except during indoor swim team practices when
no lap lanes are available.
- All
passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- The
indoor pool observes Quiet Swim (only those 18 & older and children 5 &
under with a parent are permitted to swim) Monday through Friday from 2-4:15pm pm
and 6-8:15pm.
- The
entire facility will close at 8:00pm
the third Sunday of every month for staff in-service training.
- We
allow only Coast Guard Approved
personal flotation devices; all other generic swimming aids are not permitted.
This includes water wings, swimsuits with floats sewn in, inner tubes, etc. We
reserve the right to inspect your PFD for approval or disapproval.
- Children
who wear diapers are required to
wear a swim diaper underneath a bathing suit. Swim diapers are available free of charge at the front desk.
- Toys
of any kind are permitted only in the outdoor baby pool.
- Thunder
and lightning will close the outdoor pool. Re-opening will occur 30 minutes
after the last sight of lightning or sound of thunder.
- Cotton
garments are not permitted in either pool. However, mesh or nylon materials may
be worn over a swimsuit.
- Health
Department Standards may require us to close either pool due to fecal and vomit
accidents.
- Patrons
must be 14 years of age or older to use the fitness wing. Proper attire is required.
- Children
11 years of age and under entering the facility must be within sight and
accompanied by a responsible person 16 years of age or older in appropriate
swim attire. (*Children 12 years of age and over are allowed to enter by
themselves)
- Non-swimmers
and all children 5 years of age and under in the water must be directly
supervised by a responsible person 16 years of age or older in appropriate swim
attire.
- Use
of the baby pool (outdoor) shall be limited to children 5 years of age and
under with their parent or a responsible person 16 years of age or older in
appropriate swim attire.
