My fellow Marylanders,
August has been a busy and productive month for our administration, and I wanted to take a moment to share some of what we’ve been able to deliver for Marylanders all across the state.
We kept investing in the people who make Maryland run with our Grow Your Own Educators grants, which will support over 800 educators across the state – and we announced the Maryland Pay It Forward Fund, a partnership with Social Finance to support aspiring nurses at a time when our hospitals and communities critically needs them.
Building on that action on health care, we awarded $80 million in grant funding across 41 grantees for the first year of our Rural Health Transformation Program to strengthen and expand access to primary care, behavioral health care and dental services. The program also helps to improve the quality of care delivered and reduce costs to the overall healthcare system.
When it comes to affordability, we’re continuing our push to confront rising energy costs through a landmark solar energy agreement that’s expected to save our state between $298 and $515 million over the next 20 years – while also advancing our clean energy goals.
Our Maryland Insurance Administration also recovered more than $53 million for consumers in the first half of 2026 alone. And just days ago, we rolled out new fraud-resistant EBT cards so Maryland families who rely on food assistance can trust that their benefits are protected.
Rounding out all these incredible wins, we secured a major legal victory against the Trump-Vance Administration after the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland ruled in favor of Maryland and blocked their unlawful attempt to move the FBI headquarters away from the Greenbelt site.
Thank you for continuing to do your part in showing up for Maryland, no matter where you live.
Your Governor, Wes Moore
