My fellow Marylanders,
Over the last 90 days, we faced an historic budget challenge and watched chaos unfold in Washington, D.C. But in Annapolis, we answered crisis with courage.
We laid out 3 objectives in January:
- Modernize the tax code to give middle-class families tax relief;
- Grow our economy and diversify off Washington, D.C.; and
- Invest in our people.
At a time when middle-class families need a break, we made sure that 94% of Marylanders will either get a tax cut or see no changes in their taxes.
At a time when the federal government is trying to eliminate the Department of Education and gut funding for schools from Mountain Maryland to the Eastern Shore – including schools that teach students with special needs – we delivered the largest single investment in K-12 education in the history of our state.
And as Elon Musk’s DOGE continues to lay off thousands of public servants, we have preserved record funding for local law enforcement and helped our federal workers find new opportunities in state government and the private sector.
Maryland is mobilizing. We’re working to grow this state. We’re working to protect your rights. And while we’re willing to work with anyone, we will never compromise when it comes to protecting you.
Let’s continue to answer crisis with courage.
Your Governor, Wes Moore

Partnering to make prescription drugs more affordable, welcoming new job growth, working with our county partners and Work For America to help displaced federal public servants – this is what mobilizing for the people of Maryland looks like.

Our trade and investment mission couldn’t come at a more significant time. The federal government’s recent actions, including massive funding cuts, could impact Maryland’s economic health.
Japan and South Korea are two of Maryland's closest trade partners, and we need to build on that strong foundation to identify new areas of common interest and mutual benefit.

Billions of dollars from the NIH’s budget go toward funding studies and programs at universities, hospitals and other research groups. The agency’s grants support hundreds of thousands of jobs every year and have generated more than $94 billion in new economic activity in 2024 alone.
