God Bless the State of Maryland

My fellow Marylanders,

At the start of this month, I had the honor of delivering my third State of the State Address before a joint session of the Maryland General Assembly.

In my address, I spoke about how we will invest in industries of the future, reform our tax code, and invest in Marylanders—while also meeting crises with courage, compassion, competence, and calm.

Marylanders deserve a government that looks every challenge in the face, and still delivers results. And we’ve made real progress in the last two years to doing exactly that.

Together, we have created nearly 100,000 jobs.

Together, we have connected over 100,000 Marylanders to broadband for the first time.

Together, we have provided child care to 16,000 additional Maryland children. 

Together, we raised the minimum wage.

Together, we brought the unemployment rate down to one of the lowest rates in the country – and we have seen women's labor force participation increase by more than almost any other state.

Together, we are breaking the back of violent crime. According to preliminary data, homicides and non-fatal shootings are the lowest they have been statewide in a decade.

Maryland is safer and more competitive today than when we took office, but there's still much more to do. 

Right now, the people of Maryland are calling on us to meet the moment and prove we can stare down our greatest challenges—knowing we won’t flinch.

And that includes supporting Maryland's public servants who have been impacted by recent federal actions.

Days ago, our team launched a website with programs and resources to help public servants affected by actions taken by the Trump-Vance Administration.

My team is in constant communication with our state and local partners, as well as our Congressional delegation, and we will work to provide updates as readily as we can on.

Let's confront the challenges ahead with courage and emerge stronger—both as a state and as a people.

In State of the State, Gov. Moore Pledges to Shrink Deficit, Grow Maryland The goal, according to Moore, is to close the deficit while “still growing the middle class.” He pledged to rein in spending but also said he was adding $750 million to boost the economic capacity of the workforce, especially in the IT, aerospace and defense and biotech industries.

How Maryland can become a leader in the technology of the future | GUEST COMMENTARY The University of Maryland is well positioned to be a leader in this field — which is projected to have a cumulative impact of $2 trillion in the next decade, according to a 2024 McKinsey analysis for the Quantum Technology Monitor — but we have to act now.

Maryland saw sharp decline in fatal overdoses in 2024, Gov. Moore says Data from Maryland's Overdose Data Dashboard shows 1,553 reported fatal overdoses in the state last year, which is a 38% decrease from the 2,511 fatal overdoses in 2023.
