Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services Accepting Applications for
$10.5 Million in New Federal Funds Dedicated to Addressing Coronavirus Impact
Funding to Support Initiatives to Continue Important Services During Pandemic
ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services is now accepting applications for more than $10 million in funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance to support law enforcement, youth services, and victim services, as providers navigate the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program aims to address short and long-term barriers to serving the people of Maryland, through innovative and sustainable solutions.
“This pandemic has far-reaching consequences and challenges for our communities and the providers who serve them,” said Glenn Fueston, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services. “Our goals are to use the tools available to us, to build an infrastructure that will support populations already disconnected from support systems, and keep life-saving services available to our communities at a time where there is much uncertainty.”
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services will prioritize proposals that utilize unique methods of connecting with residents, given the need for physical distancing, and preserves continuity of operations. Applicants are encouraged to pursue collaborative development and implementation of virtual projects and connectivity that improves the ability of Marylanders to access services.
Since March, the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services has committed more than $13 million in state and federal funding to address community needs that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.
