Additional Information: Ms. Barber was asleep in her bedroom when her dog, "Charlie" woke her up. Ms. Barber was able to escape; however, her dog perished in the fire. Investigators credit "Charlie" as well as her bedroom door being closed for saving her life. Ms. Barber and her 20 y.o. daughter, who was not home, are displaced. Harford County Disaster Assistance and the Red Cross were notified. The home and all contents are a complete loss. Citizens are reminded to install smoke alarms and have a fire escape plan.
