As we move into a future that demands sustainable solutions, I would like to share the latest strides Maryland is taking in the realm of electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles are more than just a technological advancement. They are pivotal in reducing our carbon footprint, minimizing air pollution, and promoting a healthier environment for all. As we pursue a greener and cleaner tomorrow, the Maryland Department of Environment is fostering sustainable practices to combat climate change.
Maryland is dedicated to creating an infrastructure that supports the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, making it easier for individuals and businesses alike to make the switch.
We are investing in charging infrastructure across the state, ensuring that EV owners have convenient access to charging stations. Through partnerships with various stakeholders, we aim to make Maryland a hub for electric mobility, promoting sustainable transportation solutions that align with our vision for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
In February, Governor Moore announced a proposal to allocate $90 million as a downpayment on achieving the goals laid out for us in the Climate Solutions Now Act and Maryland's Climate Pollution Reduction Plan. I also attended a press conference with the governor and the Maryland Transit Administration to announce the Zero-Emission Bus Pilot Program, which is another step to electrifying our public transit.
We are making huge strides in this arena. I encourage everyone to explore the benefits of electric vehicles and consider making this eco-conscious choice. Whether it's for your daily commute or business operations, embracing electric vehicles contributes significantly to our collective responsibility ro Maryland’s environment.
Together, let’s move towards a future where our choices today pave the way for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable tomorrow.
