HEALTHY PARKS, HEALTHY PEOPLE SEPTEMBER EVENTS
This month's programming takes place at New Germany and Rocky Gap state parks.

Sept. 19: Park HIIT Workout 5:30 p.m. at Mountain View Pavilion, Rocky Gap
Change up your workouts with this 45-minute high
intensity interval training course instructed by health coach, educator
and personal trainer Carey Moffatt. All fitness levels are encouraged to
participate as each move can be adjusted to individual needs. Meet by the pavilion in the day
use area.
Sept 19: Energizing Evening
Flow Yoga 6:30 p.m. at West Beach, Rocky Gap
Join Yogafit instructor Samantha for an all levels flow class.
Meet in the day use area. Bring a blanket, towel or mat and an extra layer as evenings can be cool.
Sept. 20: Wild Women’s
Wednesday – Arms and Abs Workout 5:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Pavilion, Rocky Gap
Work your core in
this strengthening class. We will perform a variety of exercises to strengthen
your abs, arms, shoulders, chest and back for the ultimate upper body workout!
Bring a mat and set of dumbbells. Meet certified personal trainer Jen Thomas by
the pavilion in the day use area.
Sept. 21: Hula Hoop Dance Sequence Workout 5:30 p.m. at West Beach, Rocky Gap
The
hula hoop is a versatile tool for everything from fun to fitness and even
dance! This workshop will focus on rhythm and movement. Learn a
fun hoop dance sequence and unlock a new approach to dance. Quality handmade
hoops from Rhythm Hoop Dance will be available for purchase and hoops will also
be available to borrow. Meet in the day use
area.
Sept. 21: Sunset on Summer Yoga 6:30 p.m. at West Beach, Rocky Gap
In sync with the setting sun, bid summer farewell
and reflect on your adventures while making space to welcome fall. Yogafit
instructor Leslee will lead a reflective practice in the day use area. All experience levels welcome. Bring a blanket, towel or mat and an extra layer as evenings can be cool.
Sept 22: Peaceful Wildlife
Paddle 6 p.m. at North Beach, Rocky Gap
Enjoy a peaceful paddle on Lake Habeeb
while looking for native wildlife in the water, on the shore and in the skies!
You’ll be able to choose a kayak or canoe. Boats are first come, first
serve. Meet at the Boat House about 10 minutes early.
Sept. 22: Fall Trail Run 5 p.m. at the Lakehouse, New Germany
Come join a ranger for a fall trail run to
celebrate the first day of autumn and take in the scenic beauty as the leaves
begin to change colors. Wear running or tennis shoes and bring a water bottle. This event is shine only.
Sept. 23: Feathered Friends
Hike 10 a.m. at the Nature Center, Rocky Gap
Fly on by for a leisurely guided bird hike along the Lakeside Loop Trail. Search for the park's feathered friends while learning basic birding techniques.
Sept. 23: Canyon Overlook Hike 3 p.m. at the Touch of Nature parking lot, Rocky Gap
Join a naturalist for a guided, beginner level hike with a beautiful mountain overlook.
Sept. 26: De-stress Evening
Paddle 5 p.m. at North Beach, Rocky Gap
Join us for a relaxing paddle on Lake Habeeb. You’ll be able to choose a kayak or canoe. Boats are first come, first serve. Meet at the Boat House about 10 minutes early.
Sept. 26: De-stress and Energize Beach Yoga 6:30 p.m. at West Beach, Rocky Gap

Sept. 27: Wild Women’s
Wednesday – Nature Journaling and Meditation Hike 5:30-7 p.m. at the Touch of Nature parking Lot, Rocky Gap
Grab your hiking shoes,
a sketchpad or notebook, pens or pencils, water bottle and towel to sit on and
join Naturalist Jenna for a creative, fun and relaxing hike. We’ll trek about 2
miles in total with stops along the way to relax and enjoy a guided journaling and mediation session. No need to be an artist or writer, just come
ready to hit the trail and enjoy the beauty and peace that the forest has to
offer.
Sept. 28: Pickup Soccer Game 5 p.m. at the Lakehouse, New Germany
Join a ranger for a noncompetitive game of
soccer. We will split into two teams and try our luck at
scoring a goal. All ages are encouraged to attend. Wear athletic shoes
and bring a water bottle! This event is shine only.
Sept. 28: Sunset Paddle 5:30 p.m. at North Beach, Rocky Gap
Few things beat being on the water close to
sunset. Join us for a relaxing paddle sure to leave you feeling
calm and in awe of nature’s beauty. Boats are first come, first serve. Meet at the Boat House about 10 minutes early.
Sept. 29: Glorious Gorge Hike 5:30 p.m. at the Touch of Nature parking lot, Rocky Gap
Venture into the beautiful gorge of Rocky Gap
and enjoy the shade, sounds and fresh smells of the forest as you hike. The hike takes about an hour and is
moderate due to a steep portion of the trail. Wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle.
Sept. 30: ONE place, TWO
great events! 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Day Use Area, Rocky Gap Join us for two partner-supported events! There will be activities, vendors, and much more

Bark For Life The American Cancer Society is hosting a
noncompetitive walk for dogs and their owners to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. So, bring your best canine friend and join us for
a fun-filled day starting with a walk, and continuing with contests, demonstrations and games! Adoptable dogs will also be present looking for their forever homes. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and activities wrap up at 1 p.m. For more info and the full schedule, please email Courtney Case.
Discover Allegany Outdoors Join Home Ground for their annual outdoor
festival. From noon - 4 p.m., this event celebrates what beautiful Allegany County has to offer and promotes
spending a fun-filled day outside. Some of the events include birding walks,

Sept. 30: Rocky Trail Hike 3 p.m. at the Nature Center, Rocky Gap
Get moving and enjoy beautiful scenery with our naturalists on a hike along the Rocky
and Lakeside Loop trails! This fast-paced fitness hike will take
about two hours. Wear close-toed shows and bring a water bottle.
Oct. 1: Guided Lakeside
Hike 2 p.m. at the Nature Center, Rocky Gap
Join a naturalist for an hour hike on Lakeside Loop Trail to learn about the different plants and wildlife you can find in Western Maryland. Wear close-toed shows and bring a water bottle.
