New Germany CCC Camp

History Hike 
June 9 at 10 a.m.

During this easy stroll, Ranger Daniel Lewis will talk about the history of New Germany as a 19th-century industrial community, a Civilian Conservation Corps camp and a State Park. Meet at the Lake House

Campfire Fun
June 9 at 7 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join the park naturalist around the campfire to learn some tips and tricks on how to build a perfect fire and make some tasty treats. Meet at the outside stage near the Lake House


Casselman River Bridge

Casselman River Bridge Tour
June 10 at 1 p.m.

Ranger Brian White will lead an informal 30-minute walking tour and history talk on the Casselman River Bridge. Meet at the gazebo on the west side of the bridge.


Fishing at New Germany

FREE Fishing Day!
June 10, All Day

The first two Saturdays in June and July 4 are license-free fishing days across Maryland! On these days, licenses are not required to catch and possess finfish in tidal and non-tidal waters for recreational purposes. All other fishing laws and regulations still apply.


New Germany Lake

What's in the Lake?
June 11 at 1 p.m.

During this hands-on activity with the park naturalist, participants will learn about some of the aquatic species that make New Germany Lake their home. Meet at the boat dock near the Lake House.


Old Time Jam

Old-Time Jam 
June 16 from 6:30-9 p.m. 

Musicians and listeners of all ages are invited to share and enjoy traditional “old-timey” music at the Lake House. Snacks and gifts will be available for purchase.


Leave No Trace Logo

Leave No Trace Hike 
June 17 at 1 p.m.

This activity will feature a short hike with a park ranger, in which participants will learn about Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. Meet at the Lake House.


Nature Hike

Exploring the Language of Nature
June 17 at 6 p.m.

On this 45-minute walk, volunteer naturalist Jack Slocomb will guide participants through a discovery process designed to create a deep sense of connection with the natural world.

You'll be exposed to native plants and animals, and will learn the indicators of various natural habitats along the Gazebo Overlook Loop Trail.

This activity is suited for ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Dress for hiking and bring a bottle of water. Meet at the Lake House.


Scales & Tales

Raptor Roundup
June 17 at 7 p.m.

This fascinating Scales & Tales program will provide a rare opportunity to see live native wildlife, up close and personal. Deep Creek Lake volunteers will discuss their unique features and important environmental issues. Meet at the outside stage near the Lake House (or inside the Lake House in case of rain).


CCC Wood Cutting Demonstration

Father's Day Crosscut Saw Competition
June 18 at 1 p.m.

Fathers are invited to put their lumberjack skills to the test during a friendly two-person cross-cut saw competition with their sons or daughters. Families will have the opportunity to learn about some of the early tools and tricks that the Civilian Conservation Corps used to construct the log cabins and other structures. Meet at the outside stage near the Lake House.
