Safe Boating

Dear Friends,

Enjoying our waterways in a variety of craft – whether paddled, sailed or motor-powered – is one of our state’s oldest and most popular recreational pursuits. It’s also an activity that bears great responsibility to maintain the safety of boaters, passengers and bystanders. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources works very closely with our community partners to assure these goals are met each and every boating season. White Perch record

What a catch! George Venker of Baltimore broke the Maryland nontidal white perch record at Loch Raven Reservoir April 7 with a 1.9-pound fish. This surpassed the previous top weight of 1.74 pounds.
