At this time, Maryland continues to address Phase 1A of its vaccine distribution plan, focusing on distributing vaccines to health care workers, nursing homes, and first responders. All health care workers licensed, registered, or certified by a state health occupation board or MDH are currently eligible to get vaccinated. Initially, local health departments will provide those vaccinations to health care workers not affiliated with a hospital system. Health care workers who are affiliated with a hospital system will be vaccinated at their hospital. As we expand distribution, more options will be available.
Health care workers not covered in Phase 1A (i.e., those who are not licensed, registered, or certified) will be covered in Phase 1C, which is expected to begin in March of 2021. The beginning of these next phases will depend on when vaccines are allocated to Maryland through the federal government’s Operation Warp Speed program. As we continue to receive additional information about our state’s allocations, we will continue to update the public. Please stay most up to date at covidlink.maryland.gov/content/vaccine/
