Connect Your Company with Local Students at College and Career Fair on October 8

Harford County College and Career Fair

If your company is interested in hiring recent high school grads, it's not too late to register for the Harford County College & Career Fair on October 8 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the APGFCU Arena in Bel Air. Your business can showcase its products and services to students exploring career opportunities post-graduation. More than 2,000 people attended last year's event. Registration is free for employers; dinner will be provided at the event.

Did you know that Harford’s schools are now #1 in the state for business apprenticeships? This was made possible through the collaboration of our public schools, county government, and our business community.

To build on our success, the Harford Business Roundtable for Education is hosting “Strengthening Connections,” an event to enhance partnerships among local businesses and Harford County’s public schools and community college. Register today to learn about apprenticeships and other opportunities to expand the pipeline from education to employment on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 8 – 10 a.m. at Maryland Golf & Country Clubs.

Winning Federal Contracts - What It Takes to Succeed


Looking to "prime" your business for the federal contracting world? Join us at "Winning Federal Contracts - What It Takes to Succeed" on Thursday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at the CONVERGE Innovation Center, 1201 Technology Drive, in Aberdeen. Participants will learn the best ways to access subcontracting opportunities, how to navigate SAM.gov, and more. The event is free but registration is required.

This seminar is the third session in our yearlong LevelUp Harford business workshop series, which covers a new topic each month for entrepreneurs and business owners. Learn About Advancements, Talent Development in Manufacturing at Symposium on October 8

Innovators in business and academia will convene to discuss the future of advanced manufacturing and new opportunities in talent development and training for manufacturing careers at a symposium on Wednesday, October 8. The event is hosted by the Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnership of Maryland (RAMPMD) and will be held at the CONVERGE Innovation Center, 1201 Technology Drive, Aberdeen, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests will hear from industry leaders on how to overcome the challenges of scaling advanced manufacturing processes and explore the latest trends in materials, methods, and design. Registration is required; breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Deadline October 17: Upskill Employees with Harford's Workforce Technical Training Grant

The deadline for this round of applications for Harford County's Workforce Technical Training Grant is Friday, October 17. The grant is available to county employers seeking to improve their productivity. The program reimburses local businesses that provide intermediate or advanced technical training for existing employees that expands or improves business operations. All industries may apply. Help Shape State Economic Policy by Completing Brief Survey

Maryland businesses have been asked to take a brief, 10-minute survey to help contribute to economic forecasting and policy decisions. The initiative, called Maryland Economic Resilience Intelligence & Tracking, or MERIT, is a collaboration between the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Morgan State University, Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce and other partners with a goal to have business' responses help shape smarter policies and inform advocacy. Topics include workforce shifts, AI, taxes and economic challenges. Responses are confidential.

Harford Small Businesses Awarded $220K through BGE Grant Program

Eleven Harford County small businesses received $220,000 in grant awards through the latest round of the BGE Energizing Small Business Grant Program. The program awards grants of $20,000 to Maryland small businesses that struggle with access to capital. During this round, $1.8 million in grants was awarded to 90 Maryland businesses. Since 2021, $16.6 million has been awarded to 831 state companies through the program: 65 percent are minority owned businesses, 68 percent are owned by women, and 25 percent have military-affiliated ownership.

Harford Economic Development Director Named Most Admired CEO

Harford County Department of Economic Development Director Karen Holt was named a 2025 Most Admired CEO in the Government category by The Daily Record. The award recognizes executive directors across the state for their leadership and vision. Honorees are selected based on professional accomplishments, community service and letters of reference. Greater Baltimore Committee 2025 Impact Report Details Industry Growth

The Greater Baltimore Committee released its 2025 Impact Report at its annual meeting on Friday, September 12. The report details recent industry sector growth across Maryland and the economic significance of the Baltimore region's Tech Hub designation, which includes Harford County.

Harford's Southern County Taskforce received a national award of excellence from the National Association for County Community and Economic Development for improving residents’ quality of life through outstanding planning, policy, and program management. 

Erica Richardson, a Joppatowne High School teacher and the 2024 Teacher of the Year from Harford County Public Schools, was chosen as Maryland's recipient of the 2026 National Education Association Foundation Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence.
