 Harford County kicks off the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday celebration on Sunday, June 8 from 4-8:30 p.m. in Shamrock Park in Bel Air. On the Army’s birthday – Saturday, June 14 – a dinner dance will be held at American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature a buffet and DJ; tickets are $25.

 The BGE Energizing Small Business Grant Program offers $20,000 grants to Maryland businesses with less than 25 employees to help them grow and thrive. Eligible businesses must demonstrate a tangible need for funding to support their company and serve their customers. The deadline to apply is June 13 at 6 p.m. Since the program's inception in 2021, BGE has provided 741 grants, totaling $14.86 million of investment into the state's small business community.
 Learn how to overcome fiscal and operational challenges, mitigate risk, and incorporate strategies for success into your business plan at the free upcoming seminar entitled "Navigating the Pitfalls of a Start-up or Small Business." The session will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 8 - 10 a.m. at the CONVERGE Innovation Center in Aberdeen. Registration is required; light refreshments will be provided.

Nominations are open for the Town of Bel Air's annual awards, honoring both Business and Citizen of the Year. The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 9. The Business of the Year Award recognizes a company that has made significant contributions to the overall economy and culture of Bel Air. The Citizen of the Year Award is given based on outstanding service and continued commitment to the local community. Winners will be recognized at a ceremony in October, when the Archer-Bull Architectural Design Award will also be presented. |
 Harford Community College is participating in Maryland's prestigious Cyber Workforce Accelerator program and hosted a ribbon-cutting on May 13 to celebrate the launch of its "cyber range" on campus. Cyber ranges are virtual environments that allow students to participate in simulated cyber attacks for training purposes. These simulations help individuals and teams learn skills for job preparedness in cyber industries and to meet the critical need for cybersecurity professionals across the state.
