Six Harford County manufacturing companies, listed below, received grants through the Maryland Department of Commerce's competitive Manufacturing 4.0 program. The businesses were awarded a combined total of $1,059,589; Harford companies received 22% of the overall funding allocated for the program. Grants were awarded to manufacturers who have invested in state-of-the-art technologies to increase productivity and sales, cost savings, retention of employees, and more.  Join the Harford County Chamber of Commerce at their 2025 Economic Outlook Breakfast, which will recap 2024 trends, share predictions for the 2025 economy, and help business owners prepare for the future.  The March 21 deadline to comply with mandatory Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) filing requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) has been postponed again. The U.S. Department of Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) announced February 27 it will not penalize companies that do not file or update BOI reports by the deadline; updated compliance requirements will be announced by the March 21 date. The CTA was enacted in 2021 to combat unlawful activities such as tax fraud and money laundering by capturing specific business ownership information.

In a new report issued through the Grow Rural Opportunity in Maryland project, which identifies opportunities for economic growth in the Carroll, Frederick and Harford tri-county region, key recommendations include setting regional long-term economic goals and strategies to achieve them; further harnessing the potential of Aberdeen Proving Ground; and focusing on high-value, specialized industries such as health care, manufacturing and technology, sports tourism, agriculture and construction.
The report is the result of a partnership with Harford County Economic Development, the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory in Westminster and Frederick Innovative Technology Center. Using its grant funds, Harford contracted with Matrix Design Group to conduct an economic analysis of the county, which included sector-level economic data and interviews with 85 county stakeholders.  Harford County Economic Development joined more than 250 tourism professionals in celebrating Tourism Day in Annapolis on February 14, organized by the Maryland Tourism Coalition. The event brought together industry leaders to visit General Assembly members and advocate for the critical role tourism plays in Maryland's economy.
 The Harford County Department of Economic Development will open the FY 2026 Tourism Related Funding Program on March 4 with eligibility requirements posted online for qualified nonprofits; workshops for applicants are scheduled for March 11 and 12. The funding program supports events and activities that draw overnight visitors and is funded by revenue from the county’s 6% hotel tax. Applicants must be 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 organizations; the application deadline is Friday, May 16, 2025.
