County Expected to Follow Governor’s New Orders

Westminster, MD, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 – The Carroll County Board of Commissioners (BOC) is expected to follow state of Maryland Governor Hogan’s new Executive Order to ease some of the current COVID-19 mitigation measures currently in place. The new orders are effective Friday, March 12^th at 5 PM.  On September 24, 2020, the BOC voted to adhere to all Governor Hogan’s Executive Orders relating to COVID-19. On Thursday, March 11, 2021, the Board will meet in Open Session and further discuss the new executive order and future steps.

“I am encouraged and cautiously optimistic about the Governor’s comments at today’s press conference and expect Carroll County to follow this new guidance,” said Commissioner Ed Rothstein. “However, it is important to repeat that we are still in a pandemic and  everyone should continue to put the safety of yourselves and everyone around you first, and remain vigilant with wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and washing your hands. Together we can keep moving in this positive direction.”

To continue to slow the spread of COVID-19, county leaders strongly encourage all residents to continue to follow state executive orders as well as public health guidance related to COVID-19 and adhere to safety guidelines.
