Carroll County Health Department Update April 4, 2020

Westminster, MD (4/4/2020) – The Carroll County Health Department today announced three additional cases of COVID-19 in the county: a man in his 40s, a man in his 50s, and a woman in her 60s. Twelve county residents have been released from isolation, meaning it has been 7 days since their symptoms began and they have been symptom and fever-free for at least 3 days.

There have been three additional deaths from Pleasant View Nursing Home due to COVID-19; a man in his 60s and two women in their 80s, all with underlying conditions. All resident test results have been reported for Pleasant View Nursing Home; twenty-four staff have tested positive, 34 were negative and 7 are still pending. Health Department staff continue to follow up with individuals as needed. Support continues to be provided to the facility by many local and state partners.

No additional COVID-19 cases in residents or staff were reported today at Carroll Lutheran Village; however, a woman in her 90s with underlying conditions passed away.

The Carroll County Health Department held a conference call Monday, March 30th with the county’s long-term care facilities to increase their preparedness for COVID-19. On March 10, the Maryland Department of Health issued guidance for long-term and continuing care facilities. Information and resources regarding COVID-19 are available at coronavirus.maryland.gov or cchd.maryland.gov/covid-19; Carroll County case numbers can be found at cchd.maryland.gov/carroll-county-md-cases/
