Commissioners Postpone Tax Sale

Westminster, MD, Tuesday March 31, 2020 – Today in Open Session, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to postpone the annual tax sale, scheduled for June 30, 2020.

Carroll County residents with unpaid tax accounts as of April 1st will be mailed a "Second Notice" bill soon.  The commissioners also agreed to freeze penalties as of March 31st; however, interest will continue to accrue monthly on past-due property taxes.

Payments are accepted on-line at https://paybill.carrollcountymd.gov, via U.S. Mail, or a drop box located at the County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Westminster, MD 21157. The drop box is located in lower parking lot "A" across from electric vehicle charging stations. Personal and business checks will be accepted.

Those experiencing financial difficulty may request a monthly payment plan via mail or by emailing: Collections@carrollcountymd.gov.

“These are extraordinary times and we want to show our citizens that we care about them as they face economic hardships,” said Board of Commissioner President Stephen Wantz. “This also gives taxpayers, who may have a hardship, an additional opportunity to reach out to our Comptrollers’ Office to discuss their personal situation.”

Today’s Open Session is available for viewing on the county meeting portal and the county YouTube channel. In addition, all meetings will be replayed on Comcast Channel 24.
