Charging Station Opens at County Office Building

Westminster, MD, Friday, December 13, 2019 - The Carroll County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce it will hold a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the first new BGE electric vehicle (EV) charging station, located at the main County Office Building, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11:30 am. The ceremony will take place at the charging center site in the parking lot of the office building at 225 N. Center Street, Westminster.

BGE installed the new charging station, at no charge to the county, and will install and maintain several EV stations throughout the county on county-owned properties. This station includes one quick charger and two standard chargers. BGE, An Exelon Company (BGE), plans to build, own, and operate a network of 500 public access EV charging stations across their service area by partnering with state, county, and local governments.

More information on EVs, chargers, and federal and state incentives can be found at bge.com/electricvehicles.

“We’re happy to introduce our latest accomplishment to the community and those who helped bring this project to fruition,” said Commissioner Dennis Frazier, District 3. “The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the electric vehicle charging station marks the first of its kind for county government.”

“We are excited to help our customers go electric and are appreciative to have a partnership with our local government to help build out the infrastructure of electric charging stations,” Megan Eaves, BGE External Affairs Manager said. “By working together, EVsmart will be a success and all our customers will benefit.”

All are welcome to attend the brief ceremony.
