Carroll County Commissioners Schedule Freedom Plan Discussions

Westminster, MD, August 30, 2018 Today, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) began deliberating and discussed next steps to accomplish their goal of voting on the Freedom Community Comprehensive Plan by October 23, 2018. The board began to review a first draft presentation, prepared by Commissioners Howard and Rothschild, which focused on the vision statement in the plan and suggestions to modify the plan to better reflect community input. Their presentation was described as an executive overview. The board initiated a list of issues to be considered throughout the process.

Last week the board voted to rescind the decision made in October 2017 to remand the 2017 Freedom Plan to the Carroll County Planning Commission. The commissioners now have 60 days from that day to vote on the plan. 

Scheduled meetings are as follows:

 9/4/18              BCC Freedom Plan Discussion, Open Session        10:00 a.m.

9/11/18             BCC Freedom Plan Discussion, Open Session        10:00 a.m.
                        County Office Building, 225 N. Center St., Westminster

The BCC will schedule a public hearing in October and, based upon progress, will schedule a vote during open session on or before October 23, 2018.
