Maryland/AmeriCorps Opportunity in Carroll County
Westminster,
MD, Monday, July 2, 2018-Carroll County Bureau of Aging & Disabilities is
currently seeking an individual interested in becoming a Volunteer Maryland AmeriCorps
Member with a service site opportunity in Carroll County Senior and Community
Centers. The member would work closely with the senior center managers and assistant
managers to serve as the volunteer coordinator throughout all five centers. The Centers are located in Westminster,
Hampstead, Taneytown, Mt. Airy, and Eldersburg. Volunteer Maryland, an
AmeriCorps Program of the Governor’s Office, mobilizes volunteers to serve
critical community needs across the state.
The selected
Volunteer Maryland/AmeriCorps member will serve in the capacity of volunteer coordinator
and provide the following support:
- Create
volunteer position descriptions
- Develop
volunteer recruitment materials
- Develop
a Volunteer Policy and Procedure Manual
- Develop
volunteer screening tools
- Work
with senior center staff to create
volunteer orientation agendas and materials

with volunteer recognition's
This is
an 11-month, 40 hours per week commitment as a member of AmeriCorps (the
“domestic Peace Corps”). The service
year offers extensive training, a $13,732 living allowance, and a $5,920
post-service education award. This
program is a partnership between the Carroll County Bureau of Aging &
Disabilities and Volunteer Maryland, a program of the Governor’s Office. The service year begins on September 5th,
2018.
Volunteer
Maryland AmeriCorps Members must possess and demonstrate excellence in the
following areas: verbal and written communication, computer skills, problem
solving, conflict resolution, leadership, public speaking, and show commitment
to national and community service. In
addition, applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent
residency, age (at least 17 years old), and high school graduation in order to
enroll in AmeriCorps.
