Commissioners Approve Lease of Former New Windsor Middle School

Westminster, MD, Thursday, May 24, 2018 – Today, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) voted unanimously to accept a lease and execute a contract with Springdale Preparatory School for the former New Windsor Middle School.

The contract will reflect a 2-year lease with an option to buy. The option to buy can be exercised at any time during the two years.  The first year of the lease is $100,000 and the second year will be $150,000.  The sale price of the building is $6.4 million. Springdale Preparatory School is responsible for all utilities and internal maintenance of the building as well as snow removal.  The county will be responsible for lawn maintenance.

Springdale Preparatory School, the town of New Windsor and the county are working collaboratively on joint usage agreements to allow the community continued usage of the school’s fields.
