Commission on Aging & Disabilities Welcomes New Members and
Thanks Outgoing Members


Westminster, MD, Monday, April 16, 2018 – The Carroll County Commission on Aging & Disabilities is pleased to welcome new members Marisa Cooke, Ruth Doxzen, Lauren Hickey, James McCarron, Heather Robb, and Carol Wheatley, who were recently appointed to three-year terms by the Board of County Commissioners.

These new members are representatives from the following Carroll County municipalities and agency: Health Department (Cooke), Hampstead (Doxzen), New Windsor/Union Bridge (Hickey), Taneytown (McCarron), Sykesville/Eldersburg (Robb), and Westminster (Wheatley). Additional members on the Commission represent Veterans, Senior Inclusion Program, Adults with Disabilities, Finksburg, Mt. Airy, and Manchester. The Commission is led by a Chair with assistance from a Vice-Chair.

Outgoing members Karen Gauvin (Health Department), Ed Leister (Westminster and Vice-Chair), and Elizabeth MacDougall (Sykesville/Eldersburg), are thanked for their service to the Commission for the past 6 years.

The Carroll County Commission on Aging & Disabilities is a panel of at least 16 volunteer citizens appointed to rotating three-year terms by the Board of County Commissioners. The Commission on Aging & Disabilities acts as the advisory council to the Carroll County Bureau of Aging & Disabilities under 306 of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended. In this role the Commission assists the elected officials and the Bureau of Aging & Disabilities in gathering public opinion, providing educational information, and supporting events and programs.
