 Call 9-1-1 in Carroll County – No Texting Service Yet
Westminster, MD, Friday, February
23, 2018 – In
light of Governor Larry Hogan’s announcement regarding approval of
implementation of TEXT to 9-1-1 to Maryland 9-1-1 Centers, the Carroll County
Department of Public Safety cautions residents that texting to 9-1-1 is not
currently an available option in Carroll County. All citizens are reminded to call
9-1-1 in the event of any emergency.
Although
the State of Maryland and Carroll County are working diligently to bring the
text 9-1-1 service to all areas, currently Frederick County is the only county
in Maryland able to receive TEXT to 9-1-1 messages.
There is no time-line for
when the service will become active but any updates will be communicated to the
public through the county website
