Commissioners Proclaim February 18 - 25th FFA Week
Thursday, February 16, 2017 in open session the Board of County Commissioners proclaimed that the week of February 18 to the 25th would be FFA Week. Aaron Geiman, an Agriscience Instructor at Westminster High School accepted the proclamation. Also in attendance were Joe Linthicum, an adviser at Francis Scott Key High School, Tessie Weant of Francis Scott Key High School, Amber Legore of South Carroll High School, Kate Beardsley of Winters Mill High School, Henry Brunnett of Westminster High School, and Katie Martin of Westminster High School.
The Future Farmers of America (FFA) and agricultural education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and the future of the food, fiber and natural resources systems. The FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth and career success among its members. Agricultural education and the FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing demands in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
Board Vice President Dennis Frazier, who participated in the
proclamation ceremony said, “Carroll County is very proud of its agricultural
heritage and FFA is an important contributor to agricultural education in the
county. This organization makes a positive difference in the lives of students
and is helping to develop and strengthen our youth. I am pleased to recognize
our FFA programs and honor the many accomplishments of our FFA members by
proclaiming this week, FFA Week in Carroll County.”
The Commissions of Carroll County proclaim February 18-25, 2017, as FFA WEEK in Carroll County, MD and invite all citizens to take due note of this observance.
