Dear Partner:
70% of the thousands of unemployed Baltimore City residents are between the ages of 20 and 54, and they need our help
BIG CHALLENGES REQUIRE BIG IDEAS. We asked ourselves: What can we do, as a City, to aid unemployed residents in securing employment opportunities? What can we do to assist in closing skill gaps? What can we do to assist organizations headquartered or operating in our City find applicants with the skills and qualifications they need within our City? Our answer, orchestrate an exceptional opportunity that will bring together a cross-section of stakeholders in the same place, at the same time to receive or provide employment opportunities and job readiness and resource assistance. Our outcome: the conceptualization of WorkBaltimore: Empowerment to Employment Convention!
The Mayor and the Department of Human Resources are proud to host WorkBaltimore: Empowerment to Employment Convention. The inaugural event will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Baltimore Convention Center, and is expected to include many of the Baltimore area’s top employers. This City-wide Empowerment to Employment Convention will also feature an array of job-readiness workshops, seminars and webinars throughout the month of September 2017 designed to prepare and connect current Baltimore City residents with employment opportunities. WorkBaltimore is an unparalleled opportunity for your organization to be a vital part of the launch of this new City tradition.
