 Listening to account holders has always been a priority for Maryland ABLE. Beginning July 1, 2026, that commitment was reflected in a new lineup of investment options designed to give people with disabilities more flexibility to save for their financial goals.
Driven by customer feedback, expanded eligibility under the ABLE Age Adjustment Act, and the evolving needs of account holders, Maryland ABLE is introducing lower fees and new investment choices, including nine Target Year investment options, that make long-term financial planning easier than ever.
WHAT'S NEW AT A GLANCE
Updated Investment Strategies to Choose From - Your investment options include updated Income and Stable Options. The Stable Option replaced the previous Cash Option and the Income Option replaced the previous Fixed Income Option.
New Target-Year Investment Options - These portfolios automatically adjust over time, becoming more conservative as you get closer to when you plan to use the money.
Lower Fees - The Annual Account Maintenance Fee and Asset-Based Fees were reduced, helping you save more for what matters most.

 On August 14, Maryland ABLE will join ABLE programs across the country in celebrating National ABLE Savings Day and the financial independence ABLE accounts help make possible for people with disabilities.
ABLE accounts allow people with disabilities to save and invest for qualified disability expenses while protecting eligibility for important benefits like SSI and Medicaid. This year's celebration is especially meaningful as Maryland ABLE continues to welcome newly eligible account holders under the ABLE Age Adjustment Act and offers expanded investment options to help people reach their financial goals.

 Congratulations to Maryland ABLE Director Bette Ann Mobley on being named the inaugural recipient of the ABLE Savings Plan Network (ASPN) Excellence in Leadership Award at this year's National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) Treasury Management Training Symposium.
The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes individuals whose exceptional leadership has advanced the mission of ASPN and ABLE programs at both the state and national levels.
As Chair of ASPN, Bette Ann helped transform the ABLE movement from a collection of state-based initiatives into a collaborative national network. She fostered stronger partnerships among ABLE programs, disability organizations, and advocates, championed collaboration over competition, and ensured that states of every size had a seat at the table. Throughout it all, she never lost sight of the people whose lives ABLE programs are designed to improve.
This recognition is a fitting tribute to Bette Ann's vision, leadership, and lasting impact on the ABLE community. As she prepares for her retirement later this year, we thank her for her extraordinary service and wish her all the best in her next chapter. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
