What are we up to?
The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) has been doing great work! As an important voice for youth in New Orleans, this group of high school students directly advises the Mayor on policies and issues that directly influence youth in our city. On May 30th, MYAC held a Town Hall in which various members of MYAC shared data on the city’s crime as well as several of the city’s programs that help engage the city’s youth. A panel that included youth and members from the community gave feedback on what could be done to improve the city. Council Member Green as well as Representatives from RTA were also present. We are proud of the leaders our youth are becoming and look forward to seeing them graduate July 20th.
MYAC applications open up on August 1st for the next session! You can learn more HERE!

The Expo aimed to introduce students to various career options and connect them with professionals from different industries. However, only a few students seemed to have a clear idea of their post-high school plans. The event provided an opportunity for students to explore new interests, network with peers and mentors, and build the connections they need for their future careers.
